Battle of the Brains

The Science Nation is celebrating National Science Week by holding the greatest contest of intelligence, wit, and physics the world has ever seen. Covering everything from quantum mechanics to the Big Bang, and everything in between, Battle of the Brains is an intellectual obstacle course that will terrify the contestants and entertain you!

Come along and join the fun as the Science Nation travels coast to coast to find the best, brightest, and funniest physicist in Australia.

Science Says 2016 colour

13 August – Brisbane

Competing in Brisbane for all the glory physics has to offer is: astrophysicist, Aussie muscle car enthusiast and mad Marvel fan Dr Carolyn Brown; astrophysicist and captain of the Australian ultimate Frisbee team Prof Tamara Davis; astrophysicist, code monkey and pizza enthusiast, Samuel Hinton; molecular physicist and caffeine snob Dr Anthony Jacko; theoretical physicist and marathon runner Prof Ben Powell; and linebacking quantum scientist and survivor of the ridiculous obstacle challenge Dr Till Weinhold. This event will be hosted by physicist, science communicator and Science Nation founder Dr Andrew Stephenson.

Brisbane 7

Competing in Adelaide for all the glory physics has to offer is: physicist and electrical engineer, who doesn’t have an identity crisis, Prof Derek Abbott; nuclear and medical physicist, and mad AFL supporter Prof Eva Bezak; computational physicist, lapsed pianist, and novice Dungeon Master Alex Chambers; physicist ordinaire specialising in applications of relativity and elbow patches Dr Sam Drake; particle flavour physicist, indie game developer, and offbeat fashion fan Sophie Hollitt; particle astrophysicist, Large Hadron Collider expert and Scandinavian indie-pop record producer Dr Martin White. This event will be hosted by physicist, science communicator and Science Nation founder Dr Andrew Stephenson.

Competing in Perth for all the glory physics has to offer is: black hole wrangler, radio jockey and adrenaline junkie Pikky Atri; astrophysics L-plater and high functioning coffee-addict Robin Cook; cosmic cartographer, galactic fossil hunter, time travelling evolutionary astrophysicist, and avid Welsh rugby fan Luke Davies; radio astronomer and pineapplephobic Ronniy Joseph; molecular geneticist, science communicator and virtual reality wizz Karina Price; and astronomer, X-ray visionary, and Guardians of the Galaxy rejectee Ryan Urquhart. This event will be hosted by physicist, science communicator and Science Nation founder Dr Andrew Stephenson.

Perth 7
